Wellness when Busy

Keeping a clear focus on health when on a tight schedule is a challenge! Right now I am facing this challenge head-on. For those who don’t know me, I work a full-time job and a part-time job. For the next two weeks I work every single day for the next 20 days or so. I will provide a day-to-day update for every day of that 20 day stretch.

Don’t try this at home

I would not recommend working that much to anybody. Rest is crucial in your overall wellness. However, I am hoping that I can provide some tips or helpful advice for anybody who may be in the same position. So let’s buckle up and get through this together. Day 1 starts tomorrow!

Today I am focusing on getting myself ready for tomorrow which will include an early bed time!

Here is today’s meditation

Do me a favor

Today after speaking to my therapist I was reminded of how important it is to realize how far you’ve come. We all have a story and we have all been through some challenging things. Today I ask that you take some time to reflect on how far you’ve come in life so far. I am not talking about material things but inner growth. Showing yourself gratitude will help with your mental well-being. So do it for yourself today. 🙂

Don’t be hard on yourself

We all fall short of our own expectations sometimes. Please make sure you are talking to yourself kindly when this happens. Speak to yourself like you would speak to a friend. Evaluate what happened but don’t dwell on it. Just take that experience and figure out a better way to accomplish the goal that will work for YOU. It does not matter what worked for another person. What matters is that you find what works for you.

Please take 5 minutes and do this meditation for yourself today

Thank you so much for reading and sharing this journey with me. Until tomorrow sending love, light and positivity. ❤️

Lost track of time dancing

Tonight I lost track of time dancing. And that is not completely a bad thing. Sure now I have to rush to get to bed but it was fun. I am experiencing some anxiety due to my cat’s health and this was a nice outlet for the anxiety. I am still worried though of course.

Here is a pic of my beautiful Ellie. She means the world to me ❤️

Keeping it short and sweet

To summarize I accomplished all my goals today again! I worked out hard and got my steps and had a blast doing it. I am feeling anxious about my baby girl though. 😭

Until tomorrow, keep us in your thoughts!

This is what it’s all about!

Today I woke up and felt tired but pretty good. I decided to get some steps in before work to meet my step goal. I did an amazing work out which I have shared the link to below. If you want to start the day off in a great mood I strongly suggest doing this workout!

This workout was so much fun and just what I needed to start the day!

Getting sh*t done!

In addition to the work out, I just got more of my fabulous Early Bird drink. This stuff wakes me up and lifts my mood. So hooray for a strong start!

Today has been the best day yet

This has really been the best day I have had since I started this blog. I had fun dancing and working out. I even danced some more in addition to working out to get my 10,000 steps!

Tonight I feel pretty great but the anxiety that lives inside of me is waiting for something negative to happen. As I learned on therapy I am talking back to the anxiety. 💪

Until tomorrow, be healthy and make sure to have a good time while you’re doing it!

Putting in the work

As I write this blog post I’m pacing back and forth because I didn’t get my 10,000 steps quite yet today. This whole mental health and self-care thing is a lot of work and I truly admire anybody who has successfully conquered their Demons by putting in the work. I’m getting there day by day stop by step. I’m proud of myself! This is day two of consistently achieving my goals including blogging.

It’s a really weird time for me where I feel like I’m either going to achieve my goals and do great or fall flat on my face and slide downhill. I am working my best to make sure that it is not the latter. With my therapists suggestion I created this visual aid to mark off and celebrate when I achieve my goals.

This accountability tool has been keeping me motivated and focused.

Today I achieved all of my goals including my bonus goals! Stay tuned for tomorrow’s update. In the meantime here is a pic from my afternoon hike.

A note about mental health

Mental health plays a huge role in overall health I know that many people myself included have ignored the impact of mental health has on overall health. Through therapy and increased self-awareness I have more recently learned how much of an impact mental health truly has on overall health. Essentially if my mind is not in the right place my health won’t be either. It feels like I keep making the same decisions such as overeating or spending time scrolling on my phone that do not benefit me and I am working on breaking that cycle. Lately it feels like I have been falling short of taking care of my mental health so I am going to focus on that most at this time. Everyday I will do something to benefit my mental health and document that in my blog I encourage you to do the same please feel free to share your acts of self kindness with me as it may be inspiring to myself or others

Killing It Makes You Tired

I am happy to report that I have done a great job at making healthier choices over the past few days. It is amazing what a shift in focus has done for me. It may sound silly but I challenge you to ask yourself if an activity benefits your physical, mental, or spiritual health before you spend energy on it.

While I am proud that I have stayed on track with not overeating, I have lacked in other areas. The mental health aspect has been rocky today. I woke up feeling like I had no energy. My mind keeps drifting toward work concerns. It got to the point that I feel so anxious it was hard to enjoy my day off at all. Instead of relying on food to self-soothe, I turned to meditation.

It’s still a challenge

I do feel a little better after meditating. However, I know I need to be gentle with myself. Gentle but determined to do the things that will benefit my overall well-being.

Tomorrow is a new beginning

I am going to put the work in tonight to start out having a positive day tomorrow. For example, I will make my morning smoothie tonight. I struggle with anxiety. I do a great job of managing it most of the time. Today has been challenging and I would appreciate any positive vibes!

On a lighter note

I found this fun workout yesterday. I am going to be watching more of her videos. She embodies the fun approach I want to take toward wellness!

Until tomorrow

Please take special care of your mental health for me today! ❤️

Needs Work

Today was not exactly what I expected but that is okay. Overall, I did pretty good at sticking to my objective to consider if my actions are beneficial to my mental, physical, and spiritual health.

I did this workout on YouTube after work :

It is called a “Lazy Girl Workout.” I liked it but I think I prefer dance workouts which I will plan on incorporating into my daily activities. I also went for a walk but did not quite hit my step goal.

Accountability Time

Macros need some work!

While today did not go perfect I will take it. I am doing better than I did yesterday or the week before. I look forward to tomorrow. See you then!

My Latest Approach

I have a genuine question for you what do you do when your mental health is so run down that you don’t have the energy to do what you want? The most obvious answer is to take better care of your mental health. The problem is that it seems to be a vicious cycle of being too worn out to care for your body and spirit.

My Approach starting today has been visualizing what a successful day looks like for ME. I am not talking about anything too crazy. Mainly just doing the things and chores I want to ensure I get done. If you notice, I am not using the word need because that indicates a responsibility you do not necessarily want to do. So I am looking at the things that would benefit my life and saying I want to do them.

My progress has been slow, but I did manage to do a few of the things that I want to do that I have been neglecting tomorrow; I’m going to set some loftier goals for myself. I want to focus on doing beneficial things for my mental, spiritual, and physical health. I will approach each task and ask myself if this is beneficial or will make me feel better, and one of those areas. Also, tomorrow, I will start posting what I have been eating and how many steps I get, and what exercise I do.

If anybody has any tips or tricks or ideas that have worked for them please feel free to share them Below in the comments!

Time to Begin Again

I have a confession, this weekend I totally dropped the ball. More like I lost the ball completely. This leads me to thinking that I need to figure out what exactly went wrong in my approach.

I do believe that the mental health aspect is my greatest hindrance at this time. I feel overwhelmed by certain life events and I’m letting that filter into my eating habits and just not having the energy to get up and get that physical activity. I know that taking care of yourself physically leads to better mental health. It’s just so hard to get started and to stay on track when you feel so overwhelmed.

I’m going to approach things by visualizing how it would look if I did all of the things that I knew were beneficial to me overall. And then trying to do that and seeing how I feel. I just have to get that jump start to get the momentum going. Even talking about it right now does help me feel a little bit more determined to make it happen. I’m going to be sure to continue posting and letting you know my successes and when I fall short. I want to share the entire process because this is real and that’s not always pretty and success isn’t always linear. Alright, let’s get it!
